The Fifa has consistently enforced strict countdown rules against time-wasting at the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. For throw-ins and goal kicks, the ball must be in play after a visible five-second warning from the referee, otherwise, the attacking team will lose possession.
How do the rules affect Union?
For substitutions, there is a time limit of ten seconds. If the player does not leave the field within this limit, the referee can punish this as unsportsmanlike conduct and issue a warning. Union must adapt to these new rules to be successful in the Bundesliga.
