Union captain plans coaching career
Union captain Christopher Trimmel plans a coaching career at his club. He is currently undergoing training for his Trainer-B-Lizenz and could soon conduct regular sessions with Union talents from the youth performance center.
Trimmel: Taking over a team as a coach in this season will not be possible
The Austrian can imagine regular sessions with Union talents from the youth performance center. He says: „I will probably sit down with NLZ head coach André Hofschneider, President Dirk Zingler and Managing Director Horst Heldt. I think that could be a win-win situation for everyone. It also makes me happy. During the B-Lizenz training, I often worked with kids.“
Trimmel could soon become Union coach
If this plan comes to fruition, Trimmel could enroll in the A-Lizenz training in 2027. Trimmel: „This course also takes a year. Then you have to be active as a coach for two years. That's not possible if I still have a contract as a player.“ Maybe Trimmel can postpone that, if he experiences his x-ten spring at Union.
Current status: Union in the Bundesliga
Union is currently in 11th place in the Bundesliga, with 33 goals scored and 50 conceded (-17 goal difference). The team is 44 points behind the leaders Bayern München. The next fixture is on November 21 against RB Leipzig (4th in the table). Currently, Robert Skov, Aljoscha Kemlein, Livan Burcu, Frederik Ronnow, Lucas Tousart, and Diogo Leite are injured.
