Union Berlin completed the weekend with a second goal fest. A day after the 12:2 win at Oberligist FSV Optik Rathenow, they followed up with an equally convincing 16:0 (11:0) win at Brandenburg-Ligisten SV Grün-Weiß Lübben.
What happened?
Marin Ljubicic completed the next goal spectacle with a hat-trick (59., 68., 81.) in front of 2500 spectators at the Stadion der Völkerfreundschaft.
The first 25 minutes had previously belonged to Tim Skarke (8., 18., 20.) and Ilyas Ansah (9., 13., 25.) with three goals each, as well as double scorer Mekhi Gray (15./16.).
Why is this important for Union?
The 19-year-old striker also scored again with the half-time whistle. In between, Tom Rothe had also contributed to the 11:0 half-time score with two goals (37./42.).
After the break, Union coach Mauro Lustrinelli sent a completely new team onto the pitch. Livan Burcu (53.) and loan returnee Chris Bedia (58.) increased the score, before Ljubicic, who also returned from Düsseldorf, scored the final three points.
What's next?
After a training-free Monday, Union will continue their summer preparation. On Thursday (18:30) at Chemnitzer FC and on Sunday (15:30) at FC Carl Zeiss Jena, the next tests against two Regionalliga teams are scheduled. Union currently sits 11th in the Bundesliga with 39 points, 10 wins, 9 draws, and 15 losses from 34 games, with a recent form of WWDLL and 44 goals scored at 58 conceded, resulting in a goal difference of -14. They are 50 points behind leaders Bayern München.
