Who must now be worried: Record Transfer gives Union Attackmen Steam

Union Berlin has strengthened its attack with the record transfer of Emmanuel Latte Lath (27/loan from US club Atlanta). The competition in the attack has become fiercer. The 1. FC Union has eight strikers in the squad, and coach Mauro Lustrinelli (50) must now decide who will start.

The Winner

Ilyas Ansah (21) is considered the future of the Irons. After his first Bundesliga season, the U21 international could make a breakthrough with Lath by his side. He scored twice in the 2-2 draw against Cagliari and showed his greatest strength: power, speed, and presence in the box.

The Loser

For young striker Dmytro Bogdanov (19), the competition will become even harder. The youngster made a strong impression with his performances at the U19 EM and was already allowed to breathe Bundesliga air. However, with eight strikers in the squad, the chances of playing time will likely decrease significantly. A loan seems like a realistic option.

Now the fight for the starting lineup begins

Andrej Ilić (26) was one of the best providers in the Bundesliga last season and was therefore set (9 assists). However, under Lustrinelli, everyone starts from scratch. The Serb must defend his place and is currently not fully fit. Oliver Burke (29) is also under pressure. The Scot missed large parts of the preparation due to problems with his Achilles tendon and will not travel to the training camp.

Playing time? Will it become even scarcer

For Tim Skarke (29), the air will become even thinner. The attacking player was unable to meet the expectations at Union and scored only one goal in 66 official games. After the Lath transfer, it seems that he will be leaving. Marin Ljubicic (27) is also in a similar situation. Although he scored six times in the preparation, the competition in the center of the attack has become too fierce.

The message of the Latte-Lath transfer is clear: At Union, there will be no more guaranteed starting places in the future. The competition in the attack is now becoming even fiercer.
