Union Berlin sign Van Den Bosch on free transfer
Union Berlin have officially confirmed the signing of Zeno Van Den Bosch. The 22-year-old defender will join the club on a free transfer from Royal Antwerp this summer. According to Sky Germany, the Belgian has already passed his medical and signed a contract. Van Den Bosch could be the direct replacement for Danilho Doekhi, who is expected to leave the club.
Who is Zeno Van Den Bosch?
The 22-year-old Van Den Bosch is a promising centre-back who has made 19 appearances for Royal Antwerp this season. With a market value of €8 million, he is considered a talented player who will strengthen Union Berlin. In the last Bundesliga season, Union Berlin finished 11th with 39 points from 34 games (10 wins, 9 draws, 15 losses).
Why is this transfer important?
Union Berlin are looking to strengthen their defence after Danilho Doekhi was linked with a move to VfL Wolfsburg. Van Den Bosch could fill the gap and bolster the Köpenick defence. In their last five games, Union Berlin recorded two wins, one draw and two losses (WWDLL).
What comes next?
Van Den Bosch will join Union Berlin in the summer and could be integrated into the squad during pre-season. The Köpenickers hope to stabilize their defence with the young defender and achieve a better position in the upcoming season.
