Last Saturday evening, Union hosted their city rivals Hertha BSC in pouring rain. The support from over 30,000 fans at the Stadion An der alten Försterei was deafening, even as the clouds unleashed their load. "A draw was the bare minimum we set out for," said captain C. Klaus after the match.
In the first half, Union was the stronger team, creating several chances, but Hertha's defense proved resilient. J. Juranović delivered an outstanding performance on the right side of defense, thwarting numerous dangerous attacks from the opposition.
In the second half, Hertha BSC responded stronger, taking the lead in the 67th minute with a header from their striker. However, Union withstood the pressure and equalized in the 82nd minute through Dmytro Bohdanov. Once again, he showcased his talents by breaking through the box and sending the ball into the net.
"The team reacted brilliantly in the second half," commented coach M. Raab. "We never gave up, and our fans deserved that!" In the end, it finished 1:1, keeping Union well-placed in the upper half of the table as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
