Union Berlin has loaned Dmytro Bogdanov to Energie Cottbus. The 19-year-old striker immediately joined Energie's team training.

What does this mean for Union Berlin?

At Union, Bogdanov had just extended his contract at the beginning of the month. However, in Cottbus, he is likely to get more playing time than with the Irons.

Why is this important for Bogdanov?

In the previous season, the offensive talent was used in two Bundesliga games and once in the DFB Cup as a joker for Union. Born in Kiev, Bogdanov came to Germany at the age of 15 and played for Dynamo Dresden before his time at Union.

What's next?

The loan deal is also a reaction by Energie to the failure of Erik Engelhardt. With the injury, the need for action in our offense has increased and so we are pleased that a loan from Dmytro was agreed with Union, said Cottbus coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz. Union Berlin is currently in 11th place in the Bundesliga, with 39 points, 10 wins, 9 draws and 15 losses from 34 games, and has recently been on a 2-game winning streak.
