Return to Switzerland: ## Leonie Köster on loan to Bern The 25-year-old midfielder Leonie Köster is joining BSC Young Boys on loan for a year. The Union Berlin players are looking forward to the opportunity to gain regular playing time and further develop their skills on the international stage. After injury - game time in focus Leonie Köster has been a Union Berlin player since January 2025 and extended her contract early this year. After an injury-related absence of 325 days, one thing is now most important for Köster: to play regularly. The loan to BSC Young Boys is intended to give her the opportunity to gain regular playing time and thus regain the necessary rhythm. Additionally, the loan offers the chance to prove herself on an international level, gain valuable experience on the European stage, and continue her sporting development. With BSC Young Boys, the midfielder faces a new challenge at a top Swiss club. The club has been Swiss champions twelve times and has won the Swiss Cup fifteen times. After winning the title in 2024/25, BSC YB finished second in the Women's Super League last season. Köster is already familiar with the Swiss league from her time at FC Basel (2023-2025). Statement on the loan „Leonie has had a challenging time over the past months, but has faced this challenge with great professionalism, high commitment, and her always positive attitude. With BSC Young Boys, we have found a club that offers her the opportunity to gain important game time at a high level, including in international competitions. We continue to be convinced of her potential and will closely monitor her development in Bern and maintain close communication“, said Jennifer Zietz, Managing Director of Women’s Professional Football at Union Berlin, on the loan.
